The choroid plexus is an important circadian clock component
Mammalian circadian clocks have a hierarchical organization, governed by the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) in the hypothalamus. The brain itself contains multiple loci that maintain autonomous circadian rhythmicity, but the contribution of the non-SCN ...

In the adult T‐cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) cell line ED, the human T‐cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV‐1) provirus was integrated into the intron of the ift81 gene in the antisense orientation. Despite this integration, both the intact ift81 and the viral oncogene hbz were simultaneously expressed, likely due to the functional insufficiency of viral ...

Cyclic nucleotide signaling as a drug target in retinitis pigmentosa
Disruptions in cGMP and cAMP signaling can contribute to retinal dysfunction and photoreceptor loss in retinitis pigmentosa. This perspective examines the mechanisms and evaluates emerging evidence on targeting these pathways as a potential therapeutic strategy to slow or prevent retinal degeneration.

Electronic system for drift clock calculation and synchronization for seafloor observatory [PDF]
The paper describes a new electronic device that allows an easily measurement of the drift between a reference time source (usually GPS) and an atomic rubidium clock which is normally used in seafloor observatories.

Regulation of amyloid-β dynamics and pathology by the circadian clock
Nighttime restlessness and daytime drowsiness are common and early symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). This symptomology implicates dysfunctional biological timing, yet the role of the circadian system in AD pathogenesis is unknown.

TRAF2 binds to TIFA via a novel motif and contributes to its autophagic degradation
TRAF family members couple receptor signalling complexes to downstream outputs, but how they interact with these complexes is not always clear. Here, we show that during ADP‐heptose signalling, TRAF2 binding to TIFA requires two short sequence motifs in the C‐terminal tail of TIFA, which are distinct from the TRAF6 binding motif.

Explores for the source of the gears in traditional Japanese clock (Wadokei)
The purpose of this study is to understand the nature of one of the oldest gears used in traditional Japanese clock. Today's gear manufacturing technology in Japan came mostly from Europe and America, but we do not know exactly, when and how the ...
