A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

A Software-based Low-Jitter Servo Clock for Inexpensive Phasor Measurement Units

open access: yes, 2018
This paper presents the design and the implementation of a servo-clock (SC) for low-cost Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs). The SC relies on a classic Proportional Integral (PI) controller, which has been properly tuned to minimize the synchronization ...

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Protecting Clock Synchronization: Adversary Detection through Network Monitoring

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2016
Nowadays, industrial networks are often used for safety-critical applications with real-time requirements. Such applications usually have a time-triggered nature with message scheduling as a core property.

Clock Synchronization based on Second-Order Quantum Coherence of Entangled Photons

open access: yes, 2003
We present an algorithm for synchronizing two clocks based on second-order quantum interference between entangled photons generated by parametric down-conversion.

Intercompartmental communication in senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Senescent cells experience structural changes in the plasma membrane, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, lysosomes, nucleus, and cytoskeleton. These alterations disrupt crosstalk among cellular compartments, impairing vesicular trafficking, contact sites, and molecular flow.

Clock Estimation for Long-Term Synchronization in Wireless Sensor Networks with Exponential Delays

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2007
Although the existing time synchronization protocols in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are efficient for short periods, many applications require long-term synchronization among the nodes, for example, coordinated sleep and wakeup modes, and ...

Chaotic synchronization between atomic clocks

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2019
We predict synchronization of the chaotic dynamics of two atomic ensembles coupled to a heavily damped optical cavity mode. The atoms are dissipated collectively through this mode and pumped incoherently to achieve a macroscopic population of the cavity photons. Even though the dynamics of each ensemble are chaotic, their motions repeat one another. In
