Clonidine (Catapres, Boehringer Ingelheim) is a relatively new hypotensive agent with complex pharmacologic actions on the autonomic nervous system. Little is known about its effects and side effects in children. An interesting combination of these were seen in a child who accidentally ingested an unknown quantity of this drug.
