Chlorhexidine–alcohol was compared with iodine–alcohol in a large prospective study. No superiority was found for chlorhexidine–alcohol. All things are better with alcohol! Background Surgical‐site infection (SSI) is a serious surgical complication that can be prevented by preoperative skin disinfection.
