The End of the Constituent Quark Model? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In this conference summary talk at Hadron03, questions and challenges for Hadron physics of light flavours are outlined. Precision data and recent discoveries are at last exposing the limitations of the naive constituent quark model and also giving hints

Central production of mesons: Exotic states versus Pomeron structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We demonstrate that the azimuthal dependence of central meson production in hadronic collisions, when suitably binned, provides unambiguous tests of whether the Pomeron couples like a conserved vector-current to protons.

Closed Structure [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Philosophical Logic, 2021
AbstractAccording to the structured theory of propositions, if two sentences express the same proposition, then they have the same syntactic structure, with corresponding syntactic constituents expressing the same entities. A number of philosophers have recently focused attention on a powerful argument against this theory, based on a result by Bertrand

Nuclear Shadowing in the Structure Function $F_3(x)$ [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Nuclear modification of the structure function $F_3$ is investigated. Although it could be estimated in the medium and large $x$ regions from the nuclear structure function $F_2^A$, it is essentially unknown at small $x$.

Switching imidazole reactivity by dynamic control of tautomer state in an allosteric foldamer

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Molecular biology achieves control over complex reaction networks by means of molecular systems that translate a chemical input (such as ligand binding) into an orthogonal chemical output (such as acylation or phosphorylation).

Maintaining and breaking symmetry in homomeric coiled-coil assemblies

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Higher order coiled coils with five or more helices can form α-helical barrels. Here the authors show that placing β-branched aliphatic residues along the lumen yields stable and open α-helical barrels, which is of interest for the rational design of ...

New effects observed in central production by experiment WA102 at the CERN Omega Spectrometer

open access: yes, 1999
A partial wave analysis of the centrally produced KK and pipi systems shows that the fJ(1710) has J = 0. In addition, a study of central meson production as a function of the difference in transverse momentum (dPT) of the exchanged particles shows that ...

Electrochemical synthesis of biaryls by reductive extrusion from N,N’-diarylureas

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
The synthesis of biaryl compounds by the transition-metal free coupling of arenes is an important contemporary challenge, aiming to avoid the toxicity and cost profiles associated with the metal catalysts commonly used in the synthesis of these ...

How Close Is Close Enough?

open access: yesJACC: Cardiovascular Imaging, 2014
In this issue of iJACC , Nesterov et al. [(1)][1] report on a multicenter clinical trial (RUBY-10) designed to determine the extent to which 10 different “software packages” (SPs) agreed in measurements of absolute values of rest and adenosine stress myocardial blood flow (MBF) and ...
