On closed operators with closed range [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1960
It is well-known that if T is an everywhere defined bounded operator on a Banach space X to a Banach space Y and T* is its adjoint, then the range R(T*) of T* is closed in X* if and only if the range R(T) of T is closed in Y (cf. [2, pp. 487-489]). The object of this note is to establish this result for closed but possibly unbounded operators.

To close or not to close?

open access: yesForum Médical Suisse ‒ Swiss Medical Forum, 2010

The Closed Extensions of a Closed Operator [PDF]

open access: yesIntegral Equations and Operator Theory, 2019
Given a densely defined and closed operator $A$ acting on a complex Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$, we establish a one-to-one correspondence between its closed extensions and subspaces $\mathfrak{M}\subset\mathcal{D}(A^*)$, that are closed with respect to the graph norm of $A^*$ and satisfy certain conditions.

Switching imidazole reactivity by dynamic control of tautomer state in an allosteric foldamer

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Molecular biology achieves control over complex reaction networks by means of molecular systems that translate a chemical input (such as ligand binding) into an orthogonal chemical output (such as acylation or phosphorylation).

Maintaining and breaking symmetry in homomeric coiled-coil assemblies

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Higher order coiled coils with five or more helices can form α-helical barrels. Here the authors show that placing β-branched aliphatic residues along the lumen yields stable and open α-helical barrels, which is of interest for the rational design of ...

Electrochemical synthesis of biaryls by reductive extrusion from N,N’-diarylureas

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
The synthesis of biaryl compounds by the transition-metal free coupling of arenes is an important contemporary challenge, aiming to avoid the toxicity and cost profiles associated with the metal catalysts commonly used in the synthesis of these ...

Advantages and disadvantages of connected insulin pens in diabetes management

open access: yesEndocrine Connections, 2023
Insulin administration remains vital to the treatment of diabetes and although there have been advances in insulin delivery, evidence suggests that many people with diabetes on insulin therapy have suboptimal glycemic management.
