Clinical Course and Impact of Breaks in Therapy for Children With Relapsed/Refractory Solid Tumors

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pediatric relapsed or refractory (R/R) solid tumors carry a dismal prognosis, and postrelapse patient experiences are not well described. We present postrelapse outcomes, including number of R/R events and subsequent therapy regimens.

Close supermassive binary black holes

open access: yes, 2009
It has been proposed that when the peaks of the broad emission lines in active galactic nuclei (AGNs) are significantly blueshifted or redshifted from the systemic velocity of the host galaxy, this could be a consequence of orbital motion of a ...

Close Binary System GO Cyg [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this study, we present long term photometric variations of the close binary system \astrobj{GO Cyg}. Modelling of the system shows that the primary is filling Roche lobe and the secondary of the system is almost filling its Roche lobe.

Molecular Methods for Rare Hemoglobinopathy Cases: First Brazilian Report of Pediatric Siblings with Hb O‐Arab and Alpha‐Thalassemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hemoglobinopathies are prevalent globally; diagnosis is complex in high genetic admixture populations like Brazil. We report, in two pediatric siblings, the first documented cases in Brazil of heterozygosity for hemoglobin (Hb) O‐Arab with coinheritance of α‐thalassemia (αα/−α4.2; −α3.7/−α4.2), resulting in microcytic and hypochromic anemia ...

Stability at Random Close Packing

open access: yes, 2012
The requirement that packings of hard particles, arguably the simplest structural glass, cannot be compressed by rearranging their network of contacts is shown to yield a new constraint on their microscopic structure.

USING PERFORATED LINERS TO COMBAT THE DETRIMENTAL EFFECTS OF EXCESSIVE SWEATING IN LOWER LIMB PROSTHESIS USERS

open access: yesCanadian Prosthetics & Orthotics Journal, 2020
BACKGROUND: Excessive sweating of the residual limb has a substantial effect on the daily activities of people with lower limb amputation. Prosthetic liners offer protection and comfort to sensitive areas but often exacerbate perspiration.

The Efficacy and Safety of Bevacizumab/Irinotecan/Temozolomide (BIT) for Relapsed/Refractory Neuroblastoma: The UK Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group Experience

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Patients with high‐risk neuroblastoma who either are refractory to induction chemotherapy or relapse following multi‐modal treatment have a dismal prognosis. Based on data from the BEACON trial, since 2021 the UK national guidelines recommend bevacizumab, irinotecan, and temozolomide (BIT) for patients with relapsed/refractory ...

Simulating (100) diamond chemical vapour deposition using a 3D kinetic Monte Carlo code with a tetrahedral model for diamond

open access: yesFunctional Diamond
An on-lattice, N-fold, variable-time-step, periodic kinetic Monte Carlo model for {100} chemical vapour deposition (CVD) diamond growth has been developed using a 3-dimensional fully tetrahedral model for the diamond lattice.

Charmonium in lattice QCD and the non-relativistic quark-model

open access: yes, 2008
We compare the results of a numerical lattice QCD calculation of the charmonium spectrum with the structure of a general non-relativistic potential model.

Calculating Hyperfine Couplings in Large Ionic Crystals Containing Hundreds of QM Atoms: Subsystem DFT is the Key [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We present an application of the linear scaling Frozen Density Embedding (FDE) formulation of subsystem DFT to the calculation of isotropic hyperfine coupling constants (hfccs) of atoms belonging to a guanine radical cation embedded in a guanine ...
