Key parameters of gob-side entry retaining by roof cutting in close-distance seam group [PDF]
During the process of close-distance seam group mining, the coal pillar in the upper coal seam is a stress-concentrated area, which leads to a loss of stability of the roadway during mining of the lower coal seam.

This study proposes an eco‐friendly coal permeability enhancement technique by utilizing mine waste gangue as an abrasive in high‐pressure water jets. Integrating erosion experiments with smoothed particle hydrodynamics‐finite element method coupled simulations, the research study elucidates the flow field dynamics and a nonlinear solid–liquid ...

This study presents an integrated workflow to evaluate secure and large‐scale CO2 storage in depleted oil reservoirs of the Cambay Basin, India. Industrial CO2 sources are systematically matched with mature oil fields using a quantitative source–sink framework to minimize transport distance and cost.

Study on the Migration Laws of Overlying Strata in Backfill Mining of Close-Distance Coal Seams
To clarify the migration characteristics of overlying strata during backfill mining of close-distance coal seams, the 3306 working face of Chaili Coal Mine was taken as the engineering background, and similar-material simulation, fracture-fractal analysis, and FLAC3D numerical simulation were carried out under an 85% backfill ratio.

Mechanism of “seesaw‐type” rock burst in coal seam mining beneath mountainous areas
This study reveals the mechanism of “seesaw‐type” rock bursts during coal mining beneath mountainous areas. The advancing working face induces nonuniform fracturing of the overburden. The detached mountain mass then undergoes a seesaw‐type rotational movement around a shifting pivot, driving the primary fracture through a characteristic “open‐close ...

Distribution Law of Spontaneous Combustion Hazard of Coal in Lower Goaf of Close Distance Coal Seams
In view of the objective conditions of high sulfur content and local enrichment, large amount of residual coal and closing to upper goaf of coal seams in the 8104 fully mechanized coal mining face of Xinwei Coal Mine, the distribution law of coal spontaneous combustion danger zone in goaf is studied.

This study proposes an exponentially‐constrained Gaussian mixture model (EcGMM) to quantify vertical fracture heterogeneity in stratified roof strata. The model integrates a piecewise exponential decay term capturing global stress dissipation with Gaussian components representing localized fracture intensification at lithological interfaces.

This study investigates the hydro‐mechanical response and fracture evolution in depleted sandstone reservoirs during CO2 injection, considering both direct wellbore injection and hydraulic‐fracture‐assisted injection. The graphical abstract illustrates how CO2 injection induces dynamic stress redistribution, leading to natural fracture activation ...
