In this chapter and in the following one we consider projective geometries with an additional structure, which consists of a set of distinguished subspaces, called the closed subspaces of the projective geometry. The motivating example comes from the theory of topological vector spaces, which are briefly studied in Section 13.1.

Lattice Harmonics II. Hexagonal Close-Packed Lattice
Reviews of Modern Physics, 1965A general discussion of the treatment of the asymmorphic space groups is given, with special reference to the hexagonal close-packed lattice ($\frac{P{6}_{3}}{\mathrm{mmc}}$), for which the irreducible representations are given in full and the lattice harmonics listed for all $l$.

Closed partition lattice and machine decomposition
IEEE Transactions on Computers, 2002Finite-state machines are widely used to model systems in diverse areas. Often, the modeling machines can be decomposed into smaller component machines and this decomposition can facilitate the system design, implementation and analysis. J. Hartmanis and R.E.

In this paper we propose a lattice-based approach intended for summa- rizing the Data Cubes. With this intention, we introduce a novel concept: the cube closure over the cube lattice (multidimensional search space) of a categorical data- base relation.

Which distributive lattices are lattices of closed sets?
Mathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, 19591. An elegant theorem due to Tarski states that a completely distributive complete Boolean algebra is isomorphic with a lattice of sets, and in fact the lattice of all the subsets of some aggregate. The obvious generalization of the question underlying this theorem is to ask whether one can pick out by means of a distributivity condition those lattices

On integrable systems close to the toda lattice
Letters in Mathematical Physics, 1993The authors study the generalized discrete self-trapping system formulated in terms of the \(\text{u}(n)\) Lie-Poisson algebra as well as as its noncompact analog given on the \(\text{gl}(n)\) algebra. The Hamiltonian is a quadratic-linear function of the algebra generators where the quadratic part consists of the squared generators of the Cartan ...

Boolean Closed Inverse Submonoid Lattices
Semigroup Forum, 1997This paper is a continuation of the author's article reviewed above (see Zbl 0887.20031). Let \(\breve H\) be the union of subgroups of an inverse monoid \(S\), let \(E\) be its semilattice of idempotents, and let \(H\) be the group of units. The main result is a characterization of those inverse monoids \(S\) whose lattice of closed inverse ...
