The closed loop hypothesis of Berezovsky and Trifonov implicates the closure of loops of length 25-35 through hydrophobic interactions at the 'locks' as a key event in protein folding. The hypothesis is supported by published analyses of nine major superfolds.

Virtual closed loop identification: A generalized tool for identification in closed loop
2008 47th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2008In this paper we propose a virtual closed loop model parameterization to perform system identification. This parameterization is designed to achieve specific goals. We show that the method includes, as special cases, known methods for closed loop identification and also offers additional flexibility.

Closed-loop control of anaesthesia
Current Opinion in Anaesthesiology, 2002Closed-loop systems are able to make decisions on their own and try to reach and maintain a preset target. As a result, they might help the anaesthesiologist in optimizing the titration of drug administration without overshooting, controlling physiological functions and guiding monitoring variables. Thanks to the development of fast computer technology

Closed loop mechanical ventilation
Journal of Clinical Monitoring and Computing, 2013Mechanical ventilation is a sophisticated technique with very narrow therapeutic ranges i.e. highly efficient and able to keep alive the most severe patients, but with considerable side effects and unwanted complications if not properly and timely used.

There has been a resurgence of interest in one of the most fundamental aspects of computer vision, which is related to the existence of a feedback mechanism in the inference of a visual classification process. Indeed, this mechanism was present in the first computer vision methodologies, but technical and theoretical issues imposed major roadblocks ...

Data from histological tracing studies in non-human primate strongly support the view that the cerebellar system is organized into distinct, motor and non-motor, parallel closed-loop circuits interconnecting the cerebellum and the cerebral cortex. Functional imaging data in human seem to confirm this specific network organization in human, and to ...

Closed-loop hemodynamic management
Best Practice & Research Clinical Anaesthesiology, 2019As the operating room and intensive care settings become increasingly complex, the required vigilance practitioners must dedicate to a wide array of clinical systems has increased concordantly. The resulting shortage of available attention to these various clinical tasks creates a vacuum for the introduction of systems that can administer well ...

An Asymptotically Closed Loop of Tetrahedra
The Mathematical Intelligencer, 2017A tetrahedral chain is a finite sequence of congruent regular tetrahedra \(T_1,\dots , T_n\) in Euclidean 3-space such that \(T_k\) and \(T_{k+1}\) have strictly one facet in common and \(T_k\neq T_{k+2}\) (i.\,e., tetrahedra meet face to face, but never double back through a just-used face). In [Colloq. Math.

But I wonder, is a contextualist defense of vegetarianism actually a defense of vegetarianism at all? As I specified in Chapter 3, we must take the landbase as primary. We should listen to it when it tells us which uses, of it and the many kinds of people who inhabit it, are acceptable and which are not.

Closed-Loop Mechanical Ventilation
Respiratory Care, 2002Closed-loop mechanical ventilation encompasses a plethora of techniques, ranging from the very simple to the relatively complex. In the simplest form, closed-loop ventilation is the control of one output variable of the mechanical ventilator based on the measurement of an input variable.
