3D‐Printed Titanium Gyroid Scaffold Structure Integrated With Tough Hybrid Materials for Cartilage Replacement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes a potential device design for joint cartilage replacement. Silica‐polytetrahydrofuran (SiO2‐PolyTHF) hybrids with customizable mechanical properties were developed to mimic the characteristics of a natural meniscus. These were synthesized through a two‐pot sol–gel hybrid process.

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

CLOSED OR OPEN INTRAMEDULLARY NAILING OF FEMORAL SHAFT FRACTURES?

open access: yes, 1969
1. A series of 154 patients with 156 femoral shaft fractures treated during a three and a half year period is reviewed. Fifty-four fractures were treated by closed intramedullary nailing, sixty-four by open intramedullary nailing and thirty-eight by ...

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

ISCHAEMIA COMPLICATING CLOSED TIBIAL AND FIBULAR SHAFT FRACTURES

open access: yes, 1967
1. The frequency of variable degrees of ischaemia of soft tissue in closed tibial and fibular shaft fractures is emphasised. 2. Two cases with ischaemia of calf musculature are described. 3.

Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

First Aid For Injured Patients With Open And Closed Fractures

open access: yes
This article aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of first aid measures for patients with open and closed fractures. Open fractures involve a break in the skin, exposing the bone, while closed fractures do not penetrate the skin.
