Mixing‐Driven Defects and Composition Evolution in Multi‐Material Metal Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Operando synchrotron X‐ray imaging coupled with high‐fidelity multiphysics modeling uncovers how inter‐material mixing reshapes keyhole dynamics and drives distinct pore‐formation pathways in multi‐material laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). Composition‐dependent instabilities trigger defects, whereas rescanning suppresses porosity and homogenizes Cu ...

Vacuum–Suction Technology integrated with water, gas and solid waste treatment: A comprehensive solution for urban and industrial environments in Vietnam [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Water pollution, industrial exhaust gases, and hazardous solid waste pose significant challenges for Vietnam and other developing countries, while conventional treatment technologies often address only a single group of pollutants, with low efficiency ...

Entropy Decoding the Fundamental Law of Phase Competition in Glass Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We validate the integration of intermetallic and eutectic phases as initial phases for composition design. The phase competition mechanism in glass formation is quantitatively clarified based on the melting entropy of competing phases. Glass‐forming ability is modulated by tuning phase competition via the melting entropy of initial phases.

Design Optimization of Surface Seawater Intake Piping for Hybrid Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion Pilot Plant

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering
Hybrid Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (H‐OTEC) systems are characterized by the adoption of both open‐loop and closed‐loop Rankine cycles. In the closed‐loop configuration, a working fluid such as ammonia is evaporated in a heat exchanger, utilizing the

Complete Closed-Loop Ventilatory Circuit Delays the Onset of Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia in Mechanically Ventilated Neurological Patients in the ICU: A Single-Center Prospective Preliminary Study

open access: yesJournal of Neuroanaesthesiology and Critical Care
Background Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is preventable yet its incidence remains high. We compared conventional ventilator circuit with open suction and dual heated wire circuit (DHWC) with closed suction on the incidence of VAP.

The influence of suction changes on the stiffness of railway formation

open access: yes, 2011
Despite compacted soils being unsaturated, geotechnical design is predominantly based on saturated soils, despite it being known that differences exist between the behaviour of saturated and unsaturated soils.Suction in soils has been shown to increase ...

Thermoelectric PANI/TeNWs Fiber Based Microsensor for Passive Temperature and Active Chemical Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Continuous wet‐spinning of PANI with TeNWs yields a multifunctional microfiber. Oriented TeNWs impose chain alignment and enhance π‐electron delocalization, boosting the Seebeck coefficient to 59.9 µV K−1 for passive temperature sensing (1 K detection limit), while achieving high pH sensitivity (59.25 mV pH−1) and rapid NH3 response (0.96 s).

Cavity Microelectrode Arrays for Electrical Recordings From Neurons

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Microelectrode arrays (MEAs) are used to study electrophysiological activity. However, their signals are small with high noise. By adding a 100‐nanometer‐high cavity above the electrode, which reduces impedance without affecting resolution, we improve signal quality.

Bona Fide Intersegmental Plane Hepatectomy Along the Glissonean Branches (BIPHG)

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This review traces the author's personal journey over three decades in the evolution of liver resection techniques, culminating in the proposal of the Bona Fide Intersegmental Plane Hepatectomy Along Glissonean Branches (BIPHG). Beginning with pioneering experiences in laparoscopic and robotic liver surgeries, the author highlights key ...
