Clostridium carboxidivorans sp. nov., a solvent-producing clostridium isolated from an agricultural settling lagoon, and reclassification of the acetogen Clostridium scatologenes strain SL1 as Clostridium drakei sp. nov. [PDF]
A novel solvent-producing, anaerobic clostridium, strain P7T, was isolated from sediment from an agricultural settling lagoon after enrichment with CO as the substrate. The metabolism of this Gram-positive, motile, spore-forming rod was primarily acetogenic. Acetate, ethanol, butyrate and butanol were the end-products of metabolism.

Clostridium ganghwense sp. nov., isolated from tidal flat sediment [PDF]
A Gram-negative, strictly anaerobic, halophilic, motile, sporulating and rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain HY-42-06T, was isolated from tidal flat sediment from Ganghwa Island in South Korea. The isolate produced glycerol, ethanol and CO2as fermentation end-products from glucose.

Non-human primates harbour diverse microbiomes in their guts. As a part of the China Microbiome Initiatives, we cultivated and characterized the gut microbiome of cynomolgus monkeys (Macaca fascicularis). In this report, we communicate the characterization and taxonomy of eight bacterial strains that were obtained from faecal samples of captive ...

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...

Clostridium pacaense: a new species within the genus Clostridium
Using the strategy of taxonogenomics, we described Clostridium pacaense sp. nov. strain Marseille-P3100T, a Gram-variable, nonmotile, spore-forming anaerobic bacillus. This strain was isolated from a 3.3-month-old Senegalese girl with clinical aspects of
