Crosstalk between endoplasmic reticulum stress and mitochondrial homeostasis: A new perspective on ophthalmic disease treatment

open access: yesJournal of Cell Communication and Signaling, Volume 20, Issue 2, June 2026.
The graphical abstract follows a top‐to‐bottom flow: stressors → ER–mitochondria crosstalk → ophthalmic diseases. The central panel highlights three core mitochondria‐associated membrane function axes, color‐coded as follows: light yellow for Ca2+ homeostasis, light blue for mitochondrial dynamics, and light red for mitophagy.

Nanoparticles in Vascular Dementia: Advantages and Challenges

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 6, June 2026.
This review highlights the dual diagnostic and therapeutic potential of nanomaterials in Vascular Dementia (VaD). By effectively crossing the blood–brain barrier, functionalized nanoparticles facilitate early diagnosis by targeting Aβ deposits and vascular lesions.

Ocular Adverse Events Associated With Antidepressants: A Large‐Scale Data Analysis From the FAERS Database

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 6, June 2026.
This decadal FAERS study (2015–2024) identifies 62,020 ocular adverse events (AEs) across 39 antidepressants, highlighting ocular neuromuscular disorders as a key risk. NDDIs show the strongest associations, while SSRIs exhibit the broadest signal spectrum.

Shifting From Systemic to Precision‐Targeted Complement Therapies: Opportunities and Hurdles

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 6, June 2026.
Complement therapeutics have expanded considerably, but systemic inhibitors remain limited by infection risks, breakthrough events, and loss of physiological functions. Emerging targeted approaches aim for organ‐, tissue‐, or cell‐specific modulation of complement activity, potentially offering greater precision while reducing treatment burden and ...
