Marginal Distributions of Random Vectors Generated by Affine Transformations of Independent Two-Piece Normal Variables

open access: yesJournal of Probability and Statistics, 2012
Marginal probability density and cumulative distribution functions are presented for multidimensional variables defined by nonsingular affine transformations of vectors of independent two-piece normal variables, the most important subclass of Ferreira ...

Closure properties of locally finite ω-languages

open access: yesTheoretical Computer Science, 2004
Locally finite omega languages were introduced by Ressayre in [Journal of Symbolic Logic, Volume 53, No. 4, p.1009-1026]. They generalize omega languages accepted by finite automata or defined by monadic second order sentences. We study here closure properties of the family LOC_omega of locally finite omega languages.

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Forecast of methane emission from closed underground coal mines exploited by longwall mining – A case study of Anna coal mine

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Mining, 2018
Closure and post-closure periods in underground coal mines present specific risks that have to be handled with sound management practices in order to achieve sustainability within the mining sector.

Fly or Cry: Is Airport Noise Costly? [PDF]

open access: yes
Airport noise is costly. Airport location is typically associated with lower property prices. Airport expansion often sparks protests by local residents.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

The quasitopos hull of the construct of closure spaces

open access: yesApplied General Topology, 2003
In the list of convenience properties for topological constructs the property of being a quasitopos is one of the most interesting ones for investigations in function spaces, differential calculus, functional analysis, homotopy theory, etc.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Tabonuco and Plantation Forests at Higher Elevations Are More Vulnerable to Hurricane Damage and Slower to Recover in Southeastern Puerto Rico

open access: yesLand
Hurricanes are major drivers of forest structure in the Caribbean. In 2017, Hurricane Maria caused substantial damage to Puerto Rico’s forests. We studied forest structure variation across 75 sites at Las Casas de la Selva, a sustainable forest ...
