Advancing Thermotolerance in Beans: Integrating Physiology, Genomics, and Breeding for Climate Adaptation

open access: yesLegume Science, Volume 8, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Rising global temperatures increasingly threaten bean production and the food security of millions of people who depend on these protein‐rich legumes. Heat stress during the reproductive stages induces pollen sterility, flower abscission, and disruptions in source–sink relationships, resulting in yield losses of 30%–40% or more when critical ...

Discovering Shared Design Heritage for Semiconductor‐Based Gamma‐Ray Spectrometers: From CdTe to Metal Halide Perovskites

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 17, 3 September 2026.
Decades of CdTe and CdZnTe gamma‐ray spectrometer development define core design principles for room‐temperature semiconductor detectors. This Review highlights how metal halide perovskites rapidly assimilate these principles, particularly through defect and compositional engineering strategies that establish favorable spectroscopic conditions for ...

Hydroclimatic Changes in the Marsyangdi River Basin, Central Himalaya Under CMIP6 Scenarios: Implications for the Water–Energy–Food–Ecosystem Nexus

open access: yesMeteorological Applications, Volume 33, Issue 5, September/October 2026.
Under CMIP6 scenarios in the Marsyangdi River Basin, SWAT+ simulations show that warming and shifting precipitation diminish snowfall and cryospheric buffering, deepening pre‐monsoon flow deficits. This seasonal mismatch drives critical Water–Energy–Food–Ecosystem trade‐offs: dry‐season run‐of‐river hydropower generation drop, and increase in winter ...

Associations Between Short Video Exposure, Empathy and Attitudes Toward End‐Of‐Life Care Among Nursing Students: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesNursing Open, Volume 13, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim This cross‐sectional study examined the associations between short video exposure, nursing students' empathy, and attitudes toward end‐of‐life (EOL) care, and tested whether perceived impact is statistically consistent with an indirect pathway in these relationships. Design A descriptive cross‐sectional study.

Preparation Algorithms for Cheaper Toffoli‐Based Quantum Cycle Shifts

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2026.
Two quantum circuit preparator algorithms are presented for the cycle shift transform. The first is shown to yield an increasing cost improvement tendency, that nears 30% and occurring over 99% of the time as the register grows large. The second always matches the two previous methods and improves upon their best case yet further in over 55% of cases ...
