Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Inclusion of Surface Topography into the Vector Vorticity Equation Model (VVM)
Surface topography is implemented into the vector vorticity equation model with a block representation of mountains in the height coordinate. The kinematic boundary conditions at the surface are satisfied with a proper computational boundary condition ...

Why do general circulation models overestimate the aerosol cloud lifetime effect? A case study comparing CAM5 and a CRM [PDF]
Observation-based studies have shown that the aerosol cloud lifetime effect or the increase of cloud liquid water path (LWP) with increased aerosol loading may have been overestimated in climate models.

A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.

Towards climate simulations at cloud-resolving scales
This study explores the potential added-value of applying cloud-resolving resolution to climate simulations. A month-long (July 2006) integration is performed with the CCLM on a convection-resolving grid of 2.2-km (0.02°) mesh size spanning the whole ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

MJO simulation in a cloud‐system‐resolving global ocean‐atmosphere coupled model
An observed Madden‐Julian Oscillation (MJO) propagating from the central Indian Ocean to the western Pacific from 15 December 2006 to 10 January 2007 was successfully simulated by a cloud‐system‐resolving global ocean‐atmosphere coupled model without ...
