Deep Projective 3D Semantic Segmentation

open access: yes, 2017
Semantic segmentation of 3D point clouds is a challenging problem with numerous real-world applications. While deep learning has revolutionized the field of image semantic segmentation, its impact on point cloud data has been limited so far.

Accuracy and reproducibility of a single‐pose image‐to‐robot registration method for mobile C‐arm cone beam CT guided histotripsy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Histotripsy is a focal tumor therapy that utilizes focused ultrasound (US) to mechanically destroy tissue. To overcome visualization limitations of diagnostic US‐guidance, C‐arm cone beam CT (CBCT)‐guided histotripsy is being developed, for which a mobile C‐arm could increase accessibility. CBCT‐guided histotripsy uses a phantom with a

Example-based super-resolution for point-cloud video

open access: yes, 2018
We propose a mixed-resolution point-cloud representation and an example-based super-resolution framework, from which several processing tools can be derived, such as compression, denoising and error concealment. By inferring the high-frequency content of

An overview of ongoing point cloud compression standardization activities: video-based (V-PCC) and geometry-based (G-PCC)

open access: yesAPSIPA Transactions on Signal and Information Processing, 2020
This article presents an overview of the recent standardization activities for point cloud compression (PCC). A point cloud is a 3D data representation used in diverse applications associated with immersive media including virtual/augmented reality ...

Machine learning enables polymer cloud-point engineering via inverse design [PDF]

open access: yesnpj Computational Materials, 2018
Inverse design is an outstanding challenge in disordered systems with multiple length scales such as polymers, particularly when designing polymers with desired phase behavior. Here we demonstrate high-accuracy tuning of poly(2-oxazoline) cloud point via

Molecular Screening of SCN1A‐Related Seizures in Children With Febrile Seizures: Diagnostic Yield and Variant Distribution

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective SCN1A‐related seizures first present as febrile seizures (FS). Definitive features emerge later, making early diagnosis challenging. We evaluated the diagnostic yield and clinical characteristics of pathogenic SCN1A variants in FS, and analyzed the effect of variant characteristics on clinical phenotypes required for early ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Effects of Phase Separation Behavior on Morphology and Performance of Polycarbonate Membranes

open access: yesMembranes, 2017
The phase separation behavior of bisphenol-A-polycarbonate (PC), dissolved in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and dichloromethane solvents in coagulant water, was studied by the cloud point method.

Surface Representation for Point Clouds

open access: yes2022 IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), 2022
Most prior work represents the shapes of point clouds by coordinates. However, it is insufficient to describe the local geometry directly. In this paper, we present \textbf{RepSurf} (representative surfaces), a novel representation of point clouds to \textbf{explicitly} depict the very local structure.
