The Bionic Interface: Considering the Material Mediated Electrical Stimulation of Stem Cells

Electrical stimulation directs stem cell fate in tissue engineering. Cellular responses are influenced by membrane properties, intrinsic cell state, material charge‐transport characteristics, and the applied electrical signal. Additionally, a material’s ability to inject, store, and redistribute charge further modulates these responses.

Tuning the Surface State and Zeta Potential of Aged CuO Nanoparticles by Additive‐Free Surface Treatments as Guided by XPS

Aging of CuO nanoparticles (NP) involves a surface reconstruction induced by hydroxylation and concurrent organic‐O adsorption, which introduces O defects in the NP subsurface region. The defective surface results in a diffuse surface space region, as reflected by a low ζ‐potential of the aged NPs in ethanol solvent.

Deep Learning Analysis of Solid‐Electrolyte Interphase Microstructures in Lithium‐Ion Batteries

A transformer‐based deep learning model is developed for segmenting and analyzing high‐resolution TEM images of the solid‐electrolyte interphase (SEI) in lithium‐ion batteries. The model is trained on DFT‐based simulated images and predicts SEI grain and grain boundaries, revealing key microstructural features that govern ion transport and degradation.

Observation of Catalytic Variability of Single Enzyme Zeolitic Imidazole Framework‐8 Nanoparticles

A microwell‐based fluorescence method characterizes the catalytic activity of single enzyme zeolitic imidazole framework‐8 (ZIF‐8) nanoparticles (NPs). Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) are loaded into ZIF‐8 NPs and reveal subpopulations of catalytic activity at single‐particle resolution.
