Cloudina lucianoi (Beurlen & Sommer, 1957), Tamengo Formation, Ediacaran, Brazil: Taxonomy, analysis of stratigraphic distribution and biostratigraphy

Precambrian Research, 2017
Abstract The genus Cloudina Germs, 1972 includes seven species restricted to Ediacaran strata: 1. Cloudina lucianoi (Beurlen and Sommer, 1957) (Tamengo Formation, Brazil); 2. Cloudina hartmanae Germs, 1972 (Nama Group, Namibia); 3. Cloudina riemkeae Germs, 1972 (Nama Group, Namibia; 4.

ACloudina-like fossil with evidence of asexual reproduction from the lowest Cambrian, South China

Geological Magazine, 2017
AbstractThe earliest fossil record of animal biomineralization occurs in the latest Ediacaran Period (c. 550 Ma).CloudinaandSinotubulitesare two important tubular taxa among these earliest skeletal fossils. The evolutionary fate ofCloudina-type fossils across the Ediacaran–Cambrian transition, however, remains poorly understood.

A Reconsideration of the Relationship between the Terminal Ediacaran Conotubus and Cloudina in southern Shaanxi: New Evidence from Geometric Morphometrical Analysis

2023
The late Ediacaran witnessed rapid turnover of organisms. As one of the earliest biomineralizing animal fossils,Cloudina has greatimplication on the evolution of complex macroscopic organisms . With a relatively stable and wide distribution, Cloudina has become one of the most important indicator fossils of the late Ediacaran. Located in the

Spygoria zappanianew genus and species, aCloudina-like biohermal metazoan from the Lower Cambrian of central Nevada

Journal of Paleontology, 1999
A new enigmatic Lower Cambrian fossil,Spygoria zappania,is described From theNevadellazone (Botoman) of Lander County, central Nevada. In gross morphology,Spygoriafossils consist of stacks of small (5–10 mm in diameter) irregular calcified cups that are preserved in vertical, concave-up life orientation.

Shell structure and distribution of Cloudina, a potential index fossil for the terminal Proterozoic.

American journal of science, 1996
Cloudina-bearing biosparites and biomicrites in the lower part of the Nama Group, Namibia, contain a wide morphological diversity of shell fragments that can all be attributed to the two named species C. hartmannae and C. riemkeae. The curved to sinuous tubular shells of Cloudina were multi-layered.
