On the universality of MOG weak field approximation at galaxy cluster scale

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2017
In its weak field limit, Scalar-tensor-vector gravity theory introduces a Yukawa-correction to the gravitational potential. Such a correction depends on the two parameters, α which accounts for the modification of the gravitational constant, and μ⁎−1 ...

Direct Heuristic Algorithms of Possibilistic Clustering Based on Transitive Approximation of Fuzzy Tolerance [PDF]

open access: yesInformatică economică, 2013
This paper deals with the problem of a heuristic approach to possibilistic clustering. The approach is based on the concept of allotment among fuzzy clusters. The paper provides the description of basic concepts of the heuristic approach to possibilistic

Method to study highly correlated nanostructures: The logarithmic-discretization embedded-cluster approximation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This work proposes an approach to study transport properties of highly correlated local structures. The method, dubbed the logarithmic discretization embedded cluster approximation LDECA, consists of diagonalizing a finite cluster containing the many ...

Distance approximations for clustering

open access: yes, 2020

Approximate distributions of clusters of extremes [PDF]

open access: yesStatistics & Probability Letters, 2003
Let \(\{X_n,n \geq 1\}\) be a stationary sequence of random variables. Let \(\{u_n\}\) be a real sequence such that \(P(X_1>u_n)>0\) but \(P(X_1>u_n) \to 0\) as \(n \to \infty\). For a positive integer \(m\), define \(M_m=\max \{X_1,\ldots,X_m\}\). The author studies exceedances over the threshold \(\{u_n\}\) among the variables \(X_1,\ldots,X_{r_n}\),

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Finding approximate gene clusters with Gecko 3 [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2016
Gene-order-based comparison of multiple genomes provides signals for functional analysis of genes and the evolutionary process of genome organization. Gene clusters are regions of co-localized genes on genomes of different species. The rapid increase in sequenced genomes necessitates bioinformatics tools for finding gene clusters in hundreds of genomes.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

A mean field method with correlations determined by linear response

open access: yes, 2013
We introduce a new mean-field approximation based on the reconciliation of maximum entropy and linear response for correlations in the cluster variation method.
