Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Covariance Matrix Estimation in Complex Surveys [PDF]

open access: yesThe Egyptian Statistical Journal, 1989
An estimator of asymptotic covariance matrix of vector of second-order sample moments under cluster sampling design is derived by the Taylor expansion method. The form of the estimator under stratified cluster sampling design is obtained as well.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Structural Fingerprinting of Crystalline Materials from XRD Patterns Using Atomic Cluster Expansion Neural Network and Atomic Cluster Expansion

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This study introduces a novel contrastive learning-based X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis framework, an SE(3)-equivariant graph neural network (E3NN) based Atomic Cluster Expansion Neural Network (EACNN), which reduces the strong dependency on databases ...

Solar wind and substorm excitation of the wavy current sheet [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2009
Following a solar wind pressure pulse on 3 August 2001, GOES 8, GOES 10, Cluster and Polar observed dipolarizations of the magnetic field, accompanied by an eastward expansion of the aurora observed by IMAGE, indicating the occurrence of two substorms.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.
