Clustering by Compression [PDF]
We present a new method for clustering based on compression. The method doesn't use subject-specific features or background knowledge, and works as follows: First, we determine a universal similarity distance, the normalized compression distance or NCD, computed from the lengths of compressed data files (singly and in pairwise concatenation).

Statistical Properties of Convex Clustering
In this manuscript, we study the statistical properties of convex clustering. We establish that convex clustering is closely related to single linkage hierarchical clustering and $k$-means clustering.

Social reference: Aggregating online usage of scientific literature in CiteULike for clustering academic resources [PDF]
Citation-based methods have been widely studied and employed for clustering academic resources and mapping science. Although effective, these methods suffer from citation delay. In this study, we extend reference and citation analysis to a broader notion

Clustering of correlated networks
We obtain the clustering coefficient, the degree-dependent local clustering, and the mean clustering of networks with arbitrary correlations between the degrees of the nearest-neighbor vertices. The resulting formulas allow one to determine the nature of

Self-adaptive GA, quantitative semantic similarity measures and ontology-based text clustering [PDF]
As the common clustering algorithms use vector space model (VSM) to represent document, the conceptual relationships between related terms which do not co-occur literally are ignored.

Observations of clustering inside oceanic bubble clouds and the effect on short-range acoustic propagation [PDF]
It has recently been shown [Weber, T. C. et al. (Year: 2007). “Acoustic propagation through clustered bubble clouds,” IEEE J. Ocean. Eng.32, 513–523] that gas bubble clustering plays a role in determining the acoustic field characteristics of bubbly ...

Uncovering Group Level Insights with Accordant Clustering
Clustering is a widely-used data mining tool, which aims to discover partitions of similar items in data. We introduce a new clustering paradigm, \emph{accordant clustering}, which enables the discovery of (predefined) group level insights.

Dendritic cells steering antigen and leukocyte traffic in lymph nodes
Dendritic cells are key players in the activation of T cells and their commitment to effector function. In this In a Nutshell Review, we will discuss how dendritic cells guide the trafficking of antigen and leukocytes in the lymph node, thus influencing T‐cell activation processes. Dendritic cells (DCs) play a central role in initiating and shaping the
