A Bayesian statistical approach for the evaluation of CMAQ

Atmospheric Environment, 2006
Bayesian statistical methods are used to evaluate Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model simulations of sulfate aerosol over a section of the eastern US for 4-week periods in summer and winter 2001. The observed data come from two U.S. Environmental Protection Agency data collection networks.

Sensitivity analyses of factors influencing CMAQ performance for fine particulate nitrate

Journal of the Air & Waste Management Association, 2013
Improvement of air quality models is required so that they can be utilized to design effective control strategies for fine particulate matter (PM2.5). The Community Multiscale Air Quality modeling system was applied to the Greater Tokyo Area of Japan in winter 2010 and summer 2011.

A performance evaluation of the 2004 release of Models-3 CMAQ

Atmospheric Environment, 2006
Abstract This performance evaluation compares a full annual simulation (2001) of Community Multi-scale Air Quality (CMAQ) (Version 4.4) covering the contiguous United States against monitoring data from four nationwide networks. This effort, which represents one of the most spatially and temporally comprehensive performance evaluations of the model ...

Updating primary emission size distribution in CMAQ

2014
Respiratory malfunctioning and visibility impairment are related to particulate matters (PMs). However, studies show that the fine size of PMs, rather than their mass, determines how deep the PMs could penetrate the nostril into the respiratory system.

Assessing satellite based PM2.5 estimates against CMAQ model forecasts

SPIE Proceedings, 2013
In this work, we focus on estimations of fine particulate matter using MODIS AOD as part of a neural network scheme and compare this to both simple linear regressions and GEOS-CHEM products. In making this comparison, it is well known the seasonal and geographical dependences observed in the PM2.5-AOD relationship; thus, to enhance our predictions ...

Comparison of spatial patterns of pollutant distribution with CMAQ predictions

Atmospheric Environment, 2006
Abstract To evaluate the Models-3/Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) modeling system in reproducing the spatial patterns of aerosol concentrations over the country on timescales of months and years, the spatial patterns of model output are compared with those derived from observational data.

Ozone sensitivity analysis with the MM5-CMAQ modeling system for Shanghai

Journal of Environmental Sciences, 2011
Ozone has become one of the most important air pollution issues around the world. This article applied both O3/(NO(y)-NO(x)) and H2O2/HNO3 indicators to analyze the ozone sensitivity in urban and rural areas of Shanghai, with implementation of the MM5-CMAQ modeling system in July, 2007. The meteorological parameters were obtained by using the MM5 model.

Models-3/CMAQ Applications which Illustrate Capability and Functionality

2006
The Models-3/CMAQ developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) is a third generation multiscale, multi-pollutant air quality modeling system within a highlevel, object-oriented computer framework (Models-3). It has been available to the scientific community since July 1998 with annual releases since that date.

Numerical experiments on MM5–CMAQ sensitivity to various PBL schemes

Atmospheric Environment, 2006
Abstract The Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) modeling system developed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) was used along with the PSU/NCAR mesoscale modeling system MM5 to study air quality modeling sensitivity to various planetary boundary layer (PBL) schemes implemented in MM5.

Fine scale dispersion modelling by coupling ADMS with CMAQ

2019
Air quality prediction based on regional models is now providing forecasts to the public such that those who are vulnerable to air pollution can be alerted and advised to avoid outdoor activities in the heavily polluted days. However, with the current spatial resolution of regional models, the pollution level in individual street is not resolved and ...
