DreamFold: A World Model to efficiently generate protein folding pathways in the latent space

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 11, November 2026.
Abstract While there is an abundance of static data for the structure of biological macromolecules, the data regarding their folding mechanisms and dynamics is scarce, posing a challenge to the training of AI models. The World Model approach, which has been very successful in robotics, can come in handy in this regard. From limited data, it can build a

Nickel‐Substituted Rubredoxin Undergoes Demetallation Upon Reaction With Nitric Oxide and Nitroxyl

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 19, 14 October 2026.
Rubredoxin is a thermally stable thiolate iron‐bound protein that can be prepared as a nickel‐substituted one. This nickel protein showed sensitivity to reaction with NO and HNO donors, causing its demetallation. Notably, these reactions exhibit spectroscopic profiles in the ultraviolet–visible and fluorescence with potential bioanalytical use.
