Comparison of NaVO3+CMAS mixture and CMAS corrosion to thermal barrier coatings
Corrosion Science, 2020Abstract Corrosion results from calcium-magnesium-alumina-silicate (CMAS) and CMAS + NaVO3 (CN) to YSZ thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) are investigated and compared. CN had lower melting temperature (by ∼ 50 °C) and viscosity than CMAS. At 1200 °C, CN was more aggressive to TBCs than CMAS due to the lower melting point.

Abstract Calcium-magnesium-alumina-silicate (CMAS) and molten salt corrosion pose great threats to thermal barrier coatings (TBCs), and recently, a coupling effect of CMAS and molten salt has been found to cause even severer corrosion to TBCs.

The Wettability and Corrosion Behaviors of CMAS on M-YTaO4 at 1350 °C
Journal of Thermal Spray Technology, 2021CMAS corrosion is one of the significant failure mechanisms for thermal barrier coatings (TBCs). In this work, the corrosion behaviors and wettability of CMAS on M-YTaO4 at 1350 °C are studied to evaluate the M-YTaO4 ceramics’ potential to replace YSZ.

The Effect of CMA on Corrosion of Reinforcing Steel in Portland Cement Concrete
CORROSION 1987, 1987Abstract The Federal Highway Administration has funded several investigations to find and develop a deicing chemical to replace the chloride containing salts that have been so damaging to bridge decks in the United States. Calcium Magnesium Acetate (CMA) has been selected as the most promising of several studied and this paper reports on

Corrosion Evaluation of Calcium Magnesium Acetate (CMA), Salt (NaCl), and CMA/SALT Solutions
CORROSION 1989, 1989Abstract Calcium magnesium acetate (CMA) has been selected in Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) sponsored research (Alternate Highway Deicing Chemicals--Report #FHWA-RD-79-108) as being among the most viable salt (sodium chloride--NaCl) substitutes for highway deicing.

Corrosion Behavior and Failure Prediction of YSZ Coatings Under CMAS Attack
Journal of Thermal Spray Technology, 2021In aeroengines, thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) are usually utilized to protect the hot components from hot gases. The ability to predict the TBC failure is crucial to avoid economic losses. In this study, plasma-sprayed 8 wt.% yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) coatings were subjected to corrosion by calcium–magnesium–aluminosilicate (CMAS, 33CaO–9MgO ...

Defects/CMAS corrosion resistance relationship in plasma sprayed YPSZ coating
Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2017Abstract This study aims to elaborate the effect of microstructural defects in plasma sprayed yttria partially stabilized zirconia (YPSZ) coating on its corrosion resistance to CaO-MgO-Al 2 O 3 -SiO 2 (CMAS). The microstructural evolution of YPSZ coating under corrosion condition was comparatively studied. The results suggested that the defects that
