The 2025 Southeast Asian extreme rainfall: role of anthropogenic climate change

open access: yesWeather, EarlyView.
In late November 2025, Southeast Asia experienced record‐breaking rainfall, amplified by Cyclone Senyar, causing severe flooding and over 1100 deaths, with four‐day rainfall reaching extremely rare 1000‐year return periods in some regions. Convection‐permitting pseudo–global warming simulations (i.e.

Changes of Potential Suitable Areas for Lynx Under Climate Change in Mohe Area, Daxing'anling Mountains, China 气候变化下中国大兴安岭漠河地区猞猁潜在适宜区的变化

open access: yesWildlife Letters, EarlyView.
Climate change drives shifts in suitable habitats for Eurasian lynx and its prey (hare, roe deer) in Mohe, Daxing'anling Mountains. Under RCP scenarios, moderate warming (RCP4.5) promotes substantial habitat expansion, while high‐emission conditions (RCP8.5) lead to strong expansion in the 2050s but slower gains and partial contraction by the 2070s ...

Functional trait modules link climatic niche geometry to projected range change in global butterflies

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Climate warming is redistributing insects, but species‐level projections alone rarely show which functional strategies are most exposed or how traits are linked to climatic niche structure.

Adapting to Urban Heights: Multidimensional Gradients Drive Nest‐Selection Plasticity and Trade‐Offs in a Human‐Commensal Sparrow

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Urban Eurasian tree sparrows exhibit pronounced nest‐site plasticity, exploiting vertical building space while preferring lower nest heights when sites are abundant. Nest decisions are driven by altitude and building height rather than other factors, indicating a shift toward anthropogenic resources in cities.

Investigation of the impact of climate change on runoff in the Kahneh Joghtai watershed using the HadGEM3-GC31-LL model and the SCS curve number method [PDF]

open access: yesمطالعات جغرافیایی مناطق خشک
Aim: This study investigates the impact of climate change and land use on runoff in the Kahneh watershed, located in a semi-arid region of Khorasan Razavi. Materials & Methods: The study employed the SCS method to estimate runoff.
