Prospects for CNC Machine Tools

Russian Engineering Research, 2019
The main global trends in the production of high-technology CNC systems are identified. Topics analyzed include system architecture; the use of high-speed industrial networks based on fieldbus technologies; the potential of multiple-channel and multiple-axis machining; spline interpolation in the machining of complex contours and free surfaces; and ...

Reliability analysis of CNC machine tools

Reliability Engineering, 1982
A reliability and maintainability study of computer control (CNC) machine tools is described. For this analysis field failure data collected over a period of three years on approximately 35 CNC machine tools during their warranty period were analysed. In order to apply quantitative reliability methods, a coding system was devised to code failure data ...

Geometric accuracy of CNC machine tools

Proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Mechatronics - Mechatronika 2014, 2014
The present article is dedicated to the identification and interpretation of geometric errors of CNC machine tools. Identification of geometric errors plays a large role in the construction of the so-called “Error maps”. These maps can be used to describe the behaviour of the machine in the workspace without load or under conditions of finishing ...

Dynamic calibration of CNC machine tools

International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 1997
Machine calibration has become an important tool for assessing and maintaining machine accuracy, and for providing a measure of production quality. The calibration techniques supported by the calibration standards and the available metrology technology use static measurement cycles [BS3800, Part 2 (1991); ISO 230-2, Part 2 (1988)].

Load spectra of CNC machine tools

Quality and Reliability Engineering International, 2000
Load spectra of CNC machine tools are described in this paper; 112 CNC machine tools have been traced for 3 years. Data including machining parameters and conditions, drawings and NC programs of parts, process cards and specifications of each individual CNC machine tool are gathered. A database containing this information is designed.

A New Miniaturized CNC Machine Tool

Advanced Materials Research, 2010
A miniaturized CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) milling machining equipment was mentioned for micro milling processing. The equipment has a highest spindle speed of 90000rpm and the positioning accuracy of submicron. Furthermore, it described the design of CNC servo system of precision stage driven by linear motor.

CNC Machine Tools and Digital Twins

Russian Engineering Research, 2019
Neural-network models used in the development of digital twins for production equipment are considered. Such a model of the dynamic stability of cutting is assessed. A spectrogram showing the vibrational amplitude and frequency of the elastic system in a CNC machine tool is presented.

Parametric Programming of CNC Machine Tools

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
CNC machine tools are increasingly often used in industry, and the development of the methods of their programming is also proceeding. Modern multipurpose multi-axial machine tools are programmed using special CAD/CAM software programs. Universal special programs for controlling CNC machine tools can, however, be generated in programs written in high ...

CNC Machine Tools

2009
The introduction of CNC machines has radically changed the manufacturing industry. Curves are as easy to cut as straight lines, complex 3-D structures are relatively easy to produce, and the number of machining steps that required human action has dramatically reduced.

A high speed machining algorithm for CNC machine tools

IECON'99. Conference Proceedings. 25th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (Cat. No.99CH37029), 2003
This paper introduces a high speed machining algorithm based on a look-ahead interpolation technique for the machining of 3D surface obtained by a CAD/CAM system. Generally, specification of CNC system for high speed machining requires an additional hardware and it burdens end users with additional cost.
