Multiple spindle CNC machines

Proceedings of 1997 IEEE International Conference on Evolutionary Computation (ICEC '97), 2002
We introduce a unique scheduling and tool assignment problem that arises for multiple spindle machine tools. The capability of these machines to perform simultaneous operations on one or more parts creates constraints that are not found in the traditional scheduling literature.

Five Axis CNC Machines

2020
A 5 axis CNC machine is a machining center where multiple tools moving and rotating in different direction for manufacturing complex parts are controlled using a single controller or are performed in a single umbrella. The 5 axis CNC machine, as the name suggests, allows control over 5 axes. 3 axes in the tool and 2 in the workpiece holder.

CNC Machine Tools

2009
The introduction of CNC machines has radically changed the manufacturing industry. Curves are as easy to cut as straight lines, complex 3-D structures are relatively easy to produce, and the number of machining steps that required human action has dramatically reduced.

Characterization of CNC machining centers

Journal of Manufacturing Systems, 1991
Abstract Characterization of CNC machining centers is a difficult task due to its inherent complexity and diversity. Although many different approaches have been proposed, none singularly serves as a globally accepted test procedure. This paper addresses this important issue by establishing a comprehensive characterization procedure for CNC machining

Rapid Prototyping Using CNC Machining

Volume 3a: 8th Design for Manufacturing Conference, 2003
Although current rapid prototyping methods have had a significant impact on product and process design, they are often limited in both accuracy and choice of suitable materials. Also, the current methods share little similarity to typical manufacturing processes.
