Reducing NOx Emissions of Cargo Handling Equipment (CHE) with Humid Air Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The authors designed and tested a humid air system (HAS) for reducing NOx emissions of an LPG-powered forklift. The HAS uses distilled water and heat from the exhaust to generate steam that is injected into the intake air of the engine to increase ...

Non‐canonical PKG1 regulation in cardiovascular health and disease

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
It is well established that the cyclic GMP‐dependent protein kinase I (PKG1) is canonically activated by cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), enabling its regulation of vascular tone, cardiac function and smooth muscle homeostasis. However, diverse non‐canonical stimuli of PKG1 have also been identified.

PD-L1 (CD274) copy number gain, expression, and immune cell infiltration as candidate predictors for response to immune checkpoint inhibitors in soft-tissue sarcoma

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2017
Soft-tissue sarcomas (STS) are rare malignancies that account for 1% of adult cancers and comprise more than 50 entities. Current therapeutic options for advanced-stage STS are limited. Immune checkpoint inhibitors targeting the PD-1/PD-L1 signaling axis

Glial cells in the heart: Implications for their roles in health and disease

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Schematic representation of cardiac autonomic ganglia within epicardial fat pads (posterior heart surface shown), containing vagal postganglionic neuron cell bodies, associated fibres, and glia. These ganglia receive cholinergic input from vagal preganglionic neurons and adrenergic input from sympathetic postganglionic neurons ...

In quest for a sustainable motorization: the CNG opportunity [PDF]

open access: yes
This article aims at describing the opportunity deriving from the substitution of conventional fuels, as gasoline and diesel, with the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), frequently indicated as methane.

Structure mirroring function: What's the ‘matter’ with the funny current?

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend The ‘funny’ (If) current of cardiac pacemaker cells has been first identified in the late 1970s as a major mechanism in the generation and control of cardiac pacemaking. Decades of studies have since described the properties of the funny current and of its molecular components, HCN channels, in the heart and brain, providing the ...

Structural basis of gating of CNG channels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 2005
Cyclic nucleotide‐gated (CNG) ion channels, underlying sensory transduction in vertebrate photoreceptors and olfactory sensory neurons, require cyclic nucleotides to open. Here, we present structural models of the tetrameric CNG channel pore from bovine rod in both open and closed states, as obtained by combining homology modeling‐based techniques ...

Upgrading techniques for transformation of biogas to bio‐CNG: a review

open access: yes, 2017
Increasing consumption of fossil fuels and environmental concern has led to increased use of compressed natural gas (CNG) in the transportation sector.

A Clinical Guidance for the Management of Patients With Hepatoid Adenocarcinoma and A Case Series

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Hepatoid adenocarcinoma (HAC) is a rare extrahepatic tumor of non‐germ cell origin that morphologically resembles hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). HAC has a propensity to metastasize to the liver and therefore may be mistaken for HCC. There is a lack of standardized treatment protocols, and further studies are needed to evaluate the benefit of ...

Fresh and Oxidized Emissions from In-Use Transit Buses Running on Diesel, Biodiesel, and CNG.

open access: yesEnvironmental Science and Technology, 2018
The potential effect of changing to a nonfossil fuel vehicle fleet was investigated by measuring primary emissions (by extractive sampling of bus plumes) and secondary mass formation, using a Gothenburg Potential Aerosol Mass (Go:PAM) reactor, from 29 in-
