Phospholipase A2 in Cnidaria

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology - B Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2004
Phospholipase A2 (PLA2) is an enzyme present in snake and other venoms and body fluids. We measured PLA2 catalytic activity in tissue homogenates of 22 species representing the classes Anthozoa, Hydrozoa, Scyphozoa and Cubozoa of the phylum Cnidaria. High PLA2 levels were found in the hydrozoan fire coral Millepora sp.

Myxozoans: Ancient metazoan parasites find a home in phylum Cnidaria

Zoology, 2018
Myxozoans are endoparasites with complex life cycles that alternate between invertebrate and vertebrate hosts. Though considered protozoans for over 150 years, they are now recognized as metazoans, given their multicellularity and ultrastructural ...

Cnidaria

2015
AbstractCnidaria are one of the basal groups within the metazoans. They are divided into the Medusozoa (Hydrozoa, Scyphozoa, Staurozoa, and Cubozoa) and the Anthozoa, which are thought to be the basal group within the Cnidaria. Cnidaria together with the Ctenophora are the lowest groups with a nervous system that relies on synaptic conduction and are ...

Cnidaria

1989
The phylum Cnidaria or Coelenterates includes sea anemones, jellyfish, hydras, sea fans, and, of course, the corals. With few exceptions they are all marine organisms and most are inhabitants of shallow water. In spite of the great variation in shape, size, and mode of life, they all possess the same basic metazoan structural features: an internal ...
