Polyurethane coatings prepared from CNSL based polyols: Synthesis, characterization and properties

Progress in Organic Coatings, 2014
Abstract Conventional polyurethane chemistry based on polyol and isocyanate chemistry is widely used for many applications ranging from plastics to coatings, constructions, pharmaceuticals, foods, etc. The growing concern over depletion of petrochemical materials and their rising prices has led to search for environment friendly renewable materials ...

Effect of Phenol-CNSL-Formaldehyde Copolymer on Thermal Ageing of SBR

International Journal of Polymeric Materials and Polymeric Biomaterials, 2006
Cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) is a cheap and renewable agro by-product that consists mainly of substituted phenols. A CNSL-based resin was used in this study to modify the properties of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR). The resin was a copolymer obtained by condensing a mixture of phenol and CNSL with hexamethylenetetramine.

CNSL oxyacetic derivatives, new bio-based binders for paint preparation

Green Materials
The global coating industry produces tens of millions of metric tonnes of paints each year, and this quantity continues to grow. Most of these paints are obtained totally or partially from fossil resources, and many of them still use volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and/or other harmful chemicals.

Synthesis of polyurethane from cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL), a renewable resource

Journal of Polymer Science Part A: Polymer Chemistry, 1998
A novel thermoplastic polyurethane was prepared from cardanol, a renewable resource and a waste of the cashew industry. Cardanol was recovered from cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) by double vacuum distillation. It was characterized by CHN analysis and IR, 1H-NMR, and 13C-NMR spectroscopy techniques. Cardanol is a meta-substituted long chain phenol.

Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CNSL): Conversion to Commercially Useful Product

2013
The use of fossil carbon-based raw materials in the manufacture of specialty chemicals is going down because of their spiraling prices end high rate of depletion of the stocks. This necessitated a look at the renewable natural resources that can serve as alternative feedstock of raw materials for the specialty chemicals in industry.

Experimental and mathematical analysis of biofuel (CNSL blended with diesel) run diesel engine

The 2nd IEEE Conference on Power Engineering and Renewable Energy (ICPERE) 2014, 2014
The paper primarily focuses on the experimental evaluation and mathematical verification of Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CSNL) derived biofuel blended with diesel in varying proportions as an alternative to conventional fossil fuel as the working substance in a single cylinder, mechanically loaded four stroke Kirloskar diesel engine. The performance of the

Compositional studies on technical cashew nutshell liquid (cnsl) by chromatography and mass spectroscopy

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1978
AbstractThe composition of technical cashew nutshell liquid (CNSL), Anacardium occidentale, from four different sources has been examined. The C15 component phenols cardanol, cardol, 2‐methyl cardol, and traces of anacardic acid have been determined by gas liquid chromatography (GLC), after hydrogenation and methylation, on the stationary phases Dexsil
