Co-circulation of two Mumps virus genotypes in Assam, India

Virus Genes, 2023
Mumps is a vaccine-preventable disease, and research on the vaccine's efficacy has recently indicated declining efficacy that has failed to protect against primary infections or reinfections, leading to a global resurgence in nations that use mumps vaccine in their national immunization programmes (NIPs). Lack of reports on its infection, documentation

The dominance of co-circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants in wastewater

International Journal of Hygiene and Environmental Health, 2023
SARS-CoV-2 remains one of the biggest global health problems, which has already reached our wastewater through fecal shedding by COVID-19 patients. While the development of vaccines has mitigated the threats of the COVID-19 pandemic, the evolutionary dynamics of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater lack monitoring and understanding.

Co-circulation of Araraquara and Juquitiba Hantavirus in Brazilian Cerrado

Microbial Ecology, 2017
Hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome is an emerging serious disease in the Americas, transmitted from wild rodents to humans through inhalation of aerosol containing virus. Herein, we characterized two distinct hantaviruses circulating in rodent species form Central Plateau, Midwestern region of Brazil in the Cerrado (savanna-like) biome, an area ...

Measles in Italy: Co‐circulation of B3 variants during 2014

Journal of Medical Virology, 2015
In 2013, the majority of the WHO/EUR countries reported an annual incidence of >1 case per one million population indicating that the elimination target is far from being met. Thus, there is the urgent need to uncover and analyze chains of measles virus (MV) transmission with the objective to identify vulnerable groups and avoid possible routes of ...

Co-Circulation of Multiple Colorado Tick Fever Virus Genotypes

The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1989
Colorado tick fever (CTF) virus, family Reoviridae, genus Orbivirus, contains 12 genes distinguishable by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE). Multiple genotypes of CTF virus were isolated at 3 field sites in Colorado in 1985. Five genotypes were found at Campos Cabin, 2 at Drake, and 6 at Rocky Mountain National Park.

Predicting pathogen mutual invasibility and co-circulation

Science
Observations of pathogen community structure provide evidence for both the coexistence and replacement of related strains. Despite many studies of specific host-pathogen systems, a unifying framework for predicting the outcomes of interactions among pathogens has remained elusive. We address this gap by developing a pathogen invasion theory (PIT) based

An analysis of co-circulating serotypes for bluetongue-17 virulence markers

Microbial Pathogenesis, 1995
We have recently identified two markers associated with virulent strains of bluetongue virus serotype 17. These differences are an altered antigenic structure of the outer capsid protein VP2 and an increased electrophoretic mobility of the RNA segment 3 that codes for an inner core protein.

Co-circulation of Emerging Tick-Borne Pathogens in Middle Germany

Vector-Borne and Zoonotic Diseases, 2011
From May until October 2007, a total of 658 Ixodes ricinus ticks were collected off birds (189), rodents (273), and vegetation (196) in a certain area of Middle Germany and investigated for infection with Babesia spp., Anaplasma phagocytophilum, and Rickettsia spp.

Importation and co-circulation of multiple serotypes of dengue virus in Sarawak, Malaysia

Virus Research, 2009
Although dengue is a common disease in South-East Asia, there is a marked absence of virological data from the Malaysian state of Sarawak located on the island of Borneo. From 1997 to 2002 we noted the co-circulation of DENV-2, DENV-3 and DENV-4 in Sarawak.

Co-circulation of distinct genetic lineages of astroviruses in turkeys and guinea fowl

Archives of Virology, 2006
Viruses belonging to the genus Astrovirus have been increasingly associated with enteritis in mammalian and avian species, including turkeys. More recently, astroviruses have also been detected in diseased guinea fowl. In turkeys, two genetically distinct types of astrovirus have been reported, namely turkey astrovirus 1 and 2 (TAstV1 and TAstV2).
