Optimizing wavelet neural networks using modified cuckoo search for multi-step ahead chaotic time series prediction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Determining the optimal number of hidden nodes and their proper initial locations are essentially crucial before the wavelet neural networks (WNNs) start their learning process.

Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.

Analysis of co-firing biomass with South African coal in pulverised coal boilers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this study, the effect on the extent of emissions reduction with co-combustion of small proportions (0-20%) of biomass with coal in a pulverised fuel combustor, is investigated. Such emissions include CO2, SO2 and NOx.

Study on premixed combustion characteristics of co-firing ammonia/methane fuels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Ammonia is believed eventually play an important role in substituting conventional fossil fuels for future energy systems. In this study, to gain a deep insight into the combustion properties of co-firing ammonia/methane fuel blends for the power and ...

TMC4 localizes to multiple taste cell types in the mouse taste papillae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Transmembrane channel‐like 4 (TMC4), a voltage‐dependent chloride channel, plays a critical role in amiloride‐insensitive salty taste transduction. TMC4 is broadly expressed in all mature taste cell types, suggesting a possible involvement of multiple cell types in this pathway.

Experimental Study on Co-Firing of Coal and Biomass in Industrial-Scale Circulating Fluidized Bed Boilers

open access: yesEnergies
Based on the low-carbon transition needs of coal-fired boilers, this study conducted industrial trials of direct biomass co-firing on a 620 t/h high-temperature, high-pressure circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler, gradually increasing the co-firing ...

Analýza procesu zplyňování alternativního paliva (50% odpad, 50% plasty) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The paper presents analysis of alternative fuel gasification with use of flue gas as a gasifying agent. As a result of a process syngas with combustible components (CO, H2, CH4, CnHm) was obtained. Laboratory tests were carried out to determine usability

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

The sol–gel route: A versatile process for up-scaling the fabrication of gas-tight thin electrolyte layers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Sol–gel routes are often investigated and adapted to prepare, by suitable chemical modifications, submicronic powders and derived materials with controlled morphology, which cannot be obtained by conventional solid state chemistry paths.

Visual Recovery Reflects Cortical MeCP2 Sensitivity in Rett Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Rett syndrome (RTT) is a devastating neurodevelopmental disorder with developmental regression affecting motor, sensory, and cognitive functions. Sensory disruptions contribute to the complex behavioral and cognitive difficulties and represent an important target for therapeutic interventions.
