Measuring the Significance of Spatiotemporal Co-Occurrences [PDF]

open access: yesACM Transactions on Spatial Algorithms and Systems, 2017
Spatiotemporal co-occurrences are the appearances of spatial and temporal overlap relationships among trajectory-based spatiotemporal instances with region-based geometric representations. Assessing the significance of spatiotemporal co-occurrences plays an important role in the spatiotemporal frequent pattern mining applications of moving

A Bibliometric Analysis of Publications in Uremic Toxins From 1991 to 2024

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Uremic toxins are a growing area of research in nephrology, with significant implications in the progression and treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the management of end‐stage kidney disease (ESKD). This bibliometric analysis aims to evaluate the global research trends, key contributors, and the impact of publications in ...

Co-occurrence of rheumatoid arthritis and sarcoidosis [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ Case Reports, 2015
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease characterised by erosive arthritis. Sarcoidosis is a chronic disease characterised by formation of non-calcified granulomas. Our case, a 35-year-old woman, presented with metacarpophalangeal, proximal interphalangeal (PİP) joints and arthritis of both ankles, of 6-month duration.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Integrating Human and Wildlife Dynamics in Co‐Occurrence Modelling

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
In shared environments, where different species interact depending on overlapping resources, complex interspecific interactions emerge, with human activities impacting these dynamics and influencing wildlife abundance and distribution.

Mycotoxins Contamination in Rice: Analytical Methods, Occurrence and Detoxification Strategies

open access: yesToxins, 2022
The prevalence of mycotoxins in the environment is associated with potential crop contamination, which results in an unavoidable increase in human exposure.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
