Co-operative Transport System and investigation of the co-operation

open access: yesPeriodica Polytechnica Transportation Engineering, 2009
This paper deals with Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and the concept of a Co-operative Transport System (CTS), in which the communication and the knowledge sharing is much more important. This distributed knowledge allows improving road transport operations more safety and efficiency. After showing some issues about development and advantages of a

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Pressure Ulcer Prevention at Home for People with Long-term Neurological Conditions, Carers and Personal Assistants: Synopsis – a Participatory, Qualitative study (PUP@Home1)

open access: yesHealth and Social Care Delivery Research
Background Many people with long-term neurological conditions (e.g. multiple sclerosis, spina bifida) live independently and manage complex health needs, including mobility and sensory limitations which mean they have a high risk of pressure ulcer ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Learning together: Foucault, Sennett and the crisis of the co-operative character [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this article, we argue that it is necessary to think of co-operation not simply as a skill, but as a virtue, and consequently that what distinguishes a genuine co-operative pedagogy is that it is about forming habits that are virtues.

An examination of the impact of the commercial use of muskox underwool upon Native Alaskan villagers

open access: yesRangifer, 1994
The Musk Ox Producers' Co-operative was begun in 1969 under the «Musk Ox Project», a project aimed at domesticating muskoxen and harvesting their underwool («qiviut»), which would then be handknit into garments by Native Alaskan villagers. The aim of the

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Smallholder rice farmers’ access to information in Tanzania: can agricultural marketing co-operative societies provide quality information?

open access: yes, 2023
Research articleAccess to quality information plays a crucial role in enhancing the competitiveness of smallholder rice farmers in Tanzania. Agricultural co-operatives have the potential to overcome smallholder farmers’ information asymmetry.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
