Co-seismic internal deformations in a spherical layered earth model

open access: yesGeophysical Journal International, 2020
SUMMARYUsing a numerical integral method, we deduced a set of formulae for the co-seismic internal deformation in a spherically symmetric earth model, simultaneously taking self-gravitation, compressibility and realistically stratified structure of the Earth into account.

Co‐seismic deformation of deep slabs based on summed CMT data [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 2012
We assess the co‐seismic deformation inferred from earthquake moment tensor solutions for subducting slabs at depths greater than 50 km globally. We rotate each moment tensor into a local slab reference frame, then sum tensors within 50 km depth bins to approximate long term deformation characteristics.

Identification of Surface Deformation in InSAR Using Machine Learning

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2021
The availability and frequency of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery are rapidly increasing. This surge of data presents new opportunities to constrain surface deformation that spans various spatial and temporal scales. This expansion also introduces

Preliminary study on co-seismic deformation steps of digital fixed-point and double earthquakes in Yunnan Province

open access: yes地震科学进展, 2020
The determination of the subsequent-earthquake trend is a hot topic for people in the disaster area. By analyzing the correlation between amplitudes of co-seismic deformation and subsequent earthquake from double earthquakes during 2008—2018 recorded by ...

Co- and post-seismic Deformation Mechanisms of the MW 7.3 Iran Earthquake (2017) Revealed by Sentinel-1 InSAR Observations

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
The extraction of high-accuracy co- and post-seismic deformation fields and inversions of seismic slip distributions is significant in the comprehension of seismogenic mechanisms.

GPS source solution of the 2004 Parkfield earthquake [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We compute a series of finite-source parameter inversions of the fault rupture of the 2004 Parkfield earthquake based on 1 Hz GPS records only. We confirm that some of the co-seismic slip at shallow depth (

Internal co-seismic deformation and curvature effect based on an analytical approach [PDF]

open access: yesEarthquake Science, 2017
In this study, we present a new method to compute internal co-seismic deformations of a homogeneous sphere, based on our previous approach (Dong et al. 2016). In practical numerical computations, we consider a strike-slip point source as an example, and compute the vertical co-seismic displacement on different internal spherical surfaces (including the

Source Parameter Inversion and Century-Scale Stress Triggering Analysis of the 2021 Maduo MW7.4 Earthquake Using GNSS and InSAR Displacement Fields

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
To explore the degree of constraint by Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) data on the Maduo earthquake within a layered earth model structure and to gain an insight into the seismogenic ...

An aseismic slip pulse in northern Chile and along-strike variations in seismogenic behavior [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We use interferometric synthetic aperture radar, GPS, and seismic observations spanning 5 to 18 years to reveal a detailed kinematic picture of the spatiotemporal evolution of fault slip in a region corresponding to the 30 July 1995 M_w 8.1 subduction ...
