The regulation of PSI cyclic electron transport by both plastoquinone and ferredoxin redox states: correlation with the rate of proton motive force utilization

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
The capacity of plants to protect themselves from stress and efficiently assimilate CO2 depends on dynamic regulation of photosynthetic electron transport pathways.

High atmospheric pressure rescues plant growth under humidity stress: A model for climate‐resilient deep underground agriculture

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
High atmospheric pressure (120 kPa) in deep underground counteracts humidity‐induced physiological stress in plants, stabilizing water balance and enhancing antioxidative defenses. This synergy boosts biomass despite elevated humidity, demonstrating sustainable deep underground agriculture potential under climate uncertainty.

Exploring variations in potential carbon and nitrogen mineralization in managed grasslands among the diversity of soils in North Carolina

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
Under steady–state conditions, potential nitrogen mineralization in soil under grasslands is closely tied to potential carbon mineralization. This study provides supporting evidence that field–specific nitrogen fertilizer recommendations could be indicated by using a simple and rapid analysis of soil–test biological activity.

Rising atmospheric CO2 outweighs elevated vapor pressure deficit in explaining increased intrinsic water use efficiency in Chinese pine

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
IntroductionTree intrinsic water use efficiency (iWUE) is an important metric for carbon and water balance in forest ecosystems. Tree iWUE has widely increased due to rising atmospheric CO2 and intensified drought. However, the dominant effects of rising

Drought Risk in Mango and Avocado Orchards: Insights Into Plant Water Relations and Irrigation‐Related Agronomic Solutions

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Climate change is making water availability more uncertain, with growing consequences for the productivity and long‐term sustainability of tropical and subtropical fruit orchards. Mangifera indica L. and Persea americana Mill. both require large amounts of water to sustain growth and productivity.

Measuring CO2 assimilation of Arabidopsis thaliana whole plants and seedlings

open access: yesPlant Science
Photosynthesis is an essential process in plants that synthesizes sugars used for growth and development, highlighting the importance of establishing robust methods to monitor photosynthetic activity. Infrared gas analysis (IRGA) can be used to track photosynthetic rates by measuring plant CO2 assimilation and release.

Effect of ammonium concentration on methane oxidation and CO2 removal in an anaerobic biotrickling filter treating synthetic landfill gas and leachate

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Landfill gas (LFG) and leachate are commonly treated separately through energy‐intensive processes. This study evaluated the integration of both streams in an anaerobic biotrickling filter (BTF) to achieve simultaneous methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) removal coupled with ammonium (NH4+) transformation, and how the microbial ...
