Carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) is the long-term isolation of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere through physical, chemical, biological, or engineered processes. The primary purpose is to reduce the impacts of human-induced climate change associated with increased greenhouse gas concentrations from emissions and land use.

The capture of CO2 from fossil fuel combustion, e.g., coal-fired power plants, represents a critical component of efforts aimed at stabilizing greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere. In addition, removal of CO2 from natural gas is of vital importance to maintain and expand the availability of these clean-burning, efficient fuel sources.

International interest in CO 2 capture and storage (CCS), as a method of reducing carbon dioxide emissions linked to global climate change, has been growing in recent years. CCS is particularly attractive for large industrial facilities, especially electric power plants, which contribute a large share of global CO 2 emissions from combustion of coal ...

Carbon dioxide valorization and its conversion towards intermediates and fuel are considered helpful strategies for de-fossilizing several sectors that could contribute to mitigating the effect of greenhouse gas emissions on global warming. In this regard, zeolites are extensively investigated as key materials for promoting carbon dioxide capture and ...
