Strategy to control CO2 diffusion in polystyrene microcellular foaming via CO2-philic additives

The Journal of Supercritical Fluids, 2019
Abstract The introduction of suitable CO2-philic additives, enabling high CO2 concentration retained in the polymer matrix, might be a promising strategy to obtain foams with small cell size and large volume expansion ratio. The effect of molecular weight (Mn) (2000–17000 g/mol) of CO2-philic additives (PDMS and PVAc) on the diffusion of ...

Diffusion, Blood O2, CO2 Content and Transport

2015
This chapter describes how oxygen is transported from the atmosphere to the cells and also the transport of carbon dioxide from the cells to the atmosphere. The systemic and pulmonary vascular networks are designed to ensure optimal cellular respiration as well as removal of the carbon dioxide produced.

Electric Potentials Due to CO2 Diffusion in Myoglobin Solutions

1985
The passage of CO2 through water layers is attended by concurrent transport of (bi)carbonate. Since both bicarbonate and carbonate are charged molecules, their diffusion may evoke electric potentials and thus there will be interaction with all other ions present in the solution.

Measuring CO2 diffuse degassing at volcanoes

2005
Important improvements have been achieved in the study of diVuse CO2 degassing from soil for what concerns both measuring and data treatment methods. Methods and applications to several study cases regarding the defnition of the spatial extent of the anomalous degassing areas and quantifcation of the amount of released CO2 are reviewed.

CO2 Diffusion Inside Leaf Mesophyll of Ligneous Plants

1998
CO2 diffusion into the leaf to the chloroplast not only depends on stomatal conductance but also on the conductance along the path CO2 follows into the leaf mesophyll from the substomatal cavities to the catalytic sites of Rubisco. Recent methodological advances showed that a significant drop in the CO2 partial pressure may occur along this path [1–5].
