Could the super-pulsed CO2 laser be used for oral excisional biopsies? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background. The main purpose of a biopsy is microscopic examination and diagnosis. Keeping the margins of specimens safe and readable is always fundamental to detecting marginal infiltrations or malignant transformation.

Decoupling the Impact of Deep‐Trap and Band‐Tail States on PbS Quantum Dot Photodetectors via Alkylamine Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Band‐tail and deep trap states are effectively disentangled through the use of selective alkylamine additives. PA‐driven 2D ordering narrows band tails, while HA enhances halide passivation and Pb coordination to suppress deep traps. A comparative study of their CQD short‐wave infrared (SWIR) photodetectors further reveals whether band‐tail states or ...

Nanoscale Spatial Organization of ARC High‐ and Low‐Order Assemblies at Excitatory Synapses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ARC (Activity‐Regulated Cytoskeleton‐Associated protein) mediates synaptic plasticity by forming nanoscale assemblies in neurons. Using super‐resolution microscopy and time‐resolved anisotropy with targeted tagging, the study reveals low‐order ARC assemblies at synapses colocalizing with AMPARs, semi‐circular structures at endocytic zones, and 60–80 nm

Radiocarbon Dioxide detection based on Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy and a Quantum Cascade Laser

open access: yes, 2015
Monitoring of radiocarbon ($^{14}$C) in carbon dioxide is demonstrated using mid-infrared spectroscopy and a quantum cascade laser. The measurement is based on cavity ring-down spectroscopy, and a high sensitivity is achieved with a simple setup.

Synergistic Sunlight‐Activated Photodynamic and Near‐Infrared‐Induced Mild Photothermal Therapy for Infected Wound Healing Using Functionalized Nano‐Bi2WO6 Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work proposes a multifunctional Bi2WO6:Yb,Er@CuS@CS nanocomposite that integrates photodynamic therapy (PDT), near‐infrared‐triggered photothermal therapy (PTT), and Cu2+ release for infected wound repair. The nanocomposite demonstrates enhanced antibacterial efficacy via combined PDT, PTT, and Cu2+ release, effective immunomodulatory by mild ...

Determination of CO2 Content in the Headspace of Spoiled Yogurt Packages

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality, 2018
The CO2 formation during food storage can often be correlated with the increase in yeast population. Yogurt and other dairy products are susceptible to yeast contamination.
