The impact of a northern peatland on the earth’s radiative budget: sustained methane emission versus sustained carbon sequestration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Northern peatlands sequester carbon and emit methane, and thus have both cooling and warming impacts on the climate system through their influence on atmospheric burdens of CO2 and CH4.

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Dapagliflozin prevents methylglyoxal‐induced retinal cell death in ARPE‐19 cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Diabetic macular oedema is a diabetes complication of the eye, which may lead to permanent blindness. ARPE‐19 are human retinal cells used to study retinal diseases and potential therapeutics. Methylglyoxal is a compound increased in uncontrolled diabetes due to elevated blood glucose.

MODEL SIMULASI EMISI DAN PENYERAPAN CO2 DI KOTA BOGOR

open access: yesJurnal Ilmu Pertanian Indonesia, 2015
Most of the urban pollution is the result of carbon dioxide (CO2) emission from human activities. This research identified CO2 emission and absorption in Bogor, and also the alternatives to solve the emission problem by system model and simulation.

Impacts of Dynamic Province-Level Power-Grid CO2 Emission Factor on Regional Carbon-Peaking Pathways

open access: yes中国工程科学
The power grid CO2 emission factor is a critical parameter for accurately calculating indirect emissions from the electricity consumption side, serving as a core indicator for precisely quantifying the CO2 emission pathways at the consumption side.

Investigation and Quantification of Carbon Footprint in Lagos Megacity

open access: yesCogent Engineering, 2019
The presence of carbon in an environment indicates the need for urgent attention on air quality control. Lagos mega city is presently experiencing developmental projects associated with carbon emission potentials, which are yet to be quantified; hence ...

Artificial Upwelling—A Refined Narrative

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
The current narrative of artificial upwelling (AU) is to translocate nutrient rich deep water to the ocean surface, thereby stimulating the biological carbon pump (BCP). Our refined narrative takes the response of the solubility pump and the CO2 emission

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Brazilian Productive Structure and Co2 Emissions [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2010
This paper analyzes the relation between economic performance and CO2 emissions in Brazil, in the year 2004. The contribution of the productive sectors to total emission is established, taking into account the technological structure of the economy, the interrelations among sectors, the sectoral capacity of generating value-added and the participation ...
