Properties of CO2 – Methane – Water for CO2 Geothermal Applications

SPE Europe Energy Conference and Exhibition
Abstract Using CO2 as a heat extraction medium from the subsurface offers several compelling advantages. These benefits result from CO2's distinct properties, notably its lower viscosity compared to water, as well as its pronounced density variations under varying pressures. Using CO2, it becomes possible to harness higher flow rates and

Supercritical CO2/Methane Relative Permeability Investigation

SPE International Conference on CO2 Capture, Storage, and Utilization, 2010
Abstract This paper presents extensive laboratory results of unsteady state displacement of methane by super critical carbon dioxide SCO2 in consolidated reservoir core plugs. The fluid flow of the both phases is presented in terms of relative permeability using explicit methods.

CO2 für Power-to-Methane

2017

Recovery of Methane and CO2 Sequestration

2019
Recovery of CBM on a commercial scale is associated with the dewatering process. The release in pressure liberates the adsorbed gas for the production. The vacant site can be utilized for the adsorption of other gases. Also the incumbent gas molecules can be displaced with a gas molecule that has more affinity towards the coal as compared to that of ...

Compressibility Factors for CO2-Methane Mixtures

Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1977
Compressibility factors from a high-ratio CO2-natural gas mixture are compared with other experimental data and values calculated using two correlations. Discussion includes the use of these factors in monitoring reservoir performance for the SACROC Unit CO2 injection project.

Pulsed corona-induced CO2 methanation

2015
CO2 methanation has been observed by application of pulsed corona discharges in a CO2 atmosphere over a deionized water film. At 46 kJ/L energy density, approximately 440 ppm CH4 has been observed at a production efficiency near 398 pmol/J. Nickel-based corona wires seems to strongly promote the plasma-induced CO2 methanation process.

Aspects of CO2-reforming of Methane

1994
The paper analyses present knowledge on the CO 2 -reforming reaction and discusses process options. CO 2 -reforming resembles conventional reforming. Different reaction rates can probably be related to kinetics. CO 2 -reforming involves higher thermody-namic potential for carbon formation. Three solutions are discussed: the use of noble metal catalysts,

Isothermal CO2 methanation

Shell Plc. is a global petrochemical company, committed to contributing to energy transition and the path to Net Zero Emissions by 2050 or even sooner. This path, however, would require decarbonisation efforts across a variety of energy systems. In the case of the Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) sector, these efforts would involve not only decarbonization ...
