The C‐terminal region of KIF26B is indispensable for nephron progenitor condensation and kidney formation in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KIF26B plays an important role in kidney development. We engineered mice lacking the C‐terminal region of KIF26B and found severe kidney defects, including bilateral renal agenesis, similar to full Kif26b knockout mice. The mutation disrupted nephron progenitor condensation and reduced Gdnf‐Wnt11 signaling, showing that the KIF26B C‐terminal region is ...

Highly dispersed Ni-Ce catalyst over clay montmorillonite K10 in low-temperature CO2 methanation

open access: yesJournal of CO2 Utilization
The Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) option can be an efficient solution for CO2 emission mitigation. To this end, we have investigated the carbon dioxide methanation at low temperatures.

Lipopolysaccharide uptake is augmented in lipopolysaccharide‐tolerant mouse macrophage‐like cells via increased CD14 expression

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In normal (nontolerant) cells, CD14 is crucial for both LPS uptake and LPS signaling. In LPS‐tolerant cells, in which LPS‐induced TNF‐α and IFN‐β production is suppressed, there is a dramatic increase in surface CD14 expression. The overexpressed CD14 in LPS‐tolerant cells is responsible for the enhanced LPS uptake without inducing pro‐inflammatory ...

In situ evolution of surface and bulk properties of Ni/La-doped CeO2 catalysts for CO2 reduction with hydrogen

open access: yesJournal of CO2 Utilization
In this work, key factors that affect catalytic activity of Ni/La-doped ceria catalysts for the reverse water gas shift reaction (RWGS) have been revealed by applying in situ advanced synchrotron techniques, such as X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS ...

Hydrostatic pressure activates HIF‐1α via β‐catenin to promote stemness in breast cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
To mimic the elevated intestinal fluid pressure in breast cancers, we loaded human breast cancer cells (MCF‐7, MDA‐MB‐453, and BT‐474) to 50 mmHg hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure exposure upregulated HIF‐1α and induced stemness in MCF‐7 and BT‐474 cells.

A stable dual-function lanthanum MOF: Simultaneous CO2 capture and catalysis

open access: yesJournal of CO2 Utilization
Carbon dioxide (CO2) capture has become a hot topic in recent years because of global warming issues. However, most research has focused primarily on gas capture, with limited methods available for achieving both CO2 capture and conversion within a ...

Aquaporin‐3 and aquaporin‐5 impact the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma spheroids

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the role of aquaporin‐3 (AQP3) and aquaporin‐5 (AQP5) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Both proteins are upregulated in PDAC and are associated with tumor progression and metastatic potential. Silencing AQP3 or AQP5 in PDAC spheroids results in decreased diameter, area, and overall growth, underscoring their key ...
