Soil‐Transmitted Helminthes (STHs) and Asymptomatic Bacteriuria Amongst Preschool Children in the Bosomtwe District of Ghana

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Soil‐transmitted helminths (STHs) and urinary tract infections (UTIs) pose major public health challenges, especially in regions with poor healthcare access, inadequate sanitation, and limited clean water supply. When these two conditions recur, they can cause stunted growth in children between 24 and 59 months of age, a vital phase for physical ...

A Case of Corynebacterium diphtheriae Native Mitral and Tricuspid Valve Infective Endocarditis Complicated by Shower Emboli

open access: yesCase Reports in Cardiology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Infective endocarditis is a rare phenomenon that may have devastating consequences. While uncommon, the spectrum of causative organisms can include Corynebacterium species. Corynebacterium diphtheriae endocarditis bears a high potential for systemic complications and overall mortality. We present a case of mitral and tricuspid native valve endocarditis

Noninfectious Necrotizing Aortitis With Predominantly Neutrophilic Infiltrate

open access: yesCase Reports in Pathology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Aortitis can be either infectious or noninfectious, and cases of noninfectious aortitis are not well understood. Our study presents a case of noninfectious ascending aortitis in a relatively young, previously healthy man, characterized by a predominantly neutrophilic infiltrate on histopathological examination without an inciting microorganism.

Antihemolytic and Thrombolytic Potential of Ocimum basilicum Seed Extract, Bioactive Compounds, and Docking With VanA Ligase in Vancomycin‐Resistant Staphylococci

open access: yesJournal of Tropical Medicine, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Ocimum basilicum is an important alternative source to explore diverse anti‐infective compounds. In the present study, aqueous seed extract of O. basilicum was used to identify bioactive compounds with antihemolytic, thrombolytic, antivancomycin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus and antivancomycin‐resistant S. epidermidis activity.
