Chimeric diphtheria toxin–CCL8 cytotoxic peptide for breast cancer management

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
DTCCL8 is a recombinant fusion toxin that targets cancer cells expressing chemokine receptors. By combining diphtheria toxin with CCL8, DTCCL8 binds to multiple receptors on tumor cells and induces selective cytotoxicity. This strategy enables receptor‐mediated targeting of cancer and may support the development of chemokine‐guided therapeutics ...

The association between abnormal coagulation testing in preeclampsia, adverse pregnancy outcomes, and placental histopathology

open access: yesHypertension in Pregnancy, 2019
Objective: We aimed to determine whether abnormal coagulation laboratory testing results in preeclampsia, are associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes and placental histopathology lesions.

Lupus Antibody Mimicking Reduced Plasmatic Coagulation in a Patient With Atrial Fibrillation and Ischemic Stroke

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2020
Background: Lupus anticoagulant (LA) owns procoagulant properties in vivo and prolongs phospholipid-dependent clotting times in vitro. The prolonged in vitro clotting time can be misinterpreted as a bleeding disorder.

Update on laboratory testing and hemostasis assessment in patients receiving direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs)

open access: yesThrombosis Update, 2021
Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) have been established and already registered worldwide for clinical use. Contrary to vitamin K antagonists, their mode of action is based on the direct inhibition of the single coagulation enzymes factor Xa or IIa. Even

A novel multifunctional biomedical material based on polyacrylonitrile:preparation and characterization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Wet spun microfibers have great potential in the design of multifunctional controlled release materials. Curcumin (Cur) and vitamin E acetate (Vit. E Ac) were used as a model drug system to evaluate the potential application of the drug-loaded microfiber

Comprehensive profiling of lncRNAs and mRNAs enriched in small extracellular vesicles for early noninvasive detection of colorectal cancer: diagnostic panel assembly and extensive validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Small extracellular vesicles are a promising source of diagnostic molecules. We conducted a comprehensive study, including transcriptome profiling and RT‐qPCR validation on large cohorts of samples. Diagnostic panels enabling sensitive detection of colorectal cancer and precancerous lesions were established. Some molecules were differentially expressed

Coagulation Dysfunction in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and Its Potential Impact in Inflammatory Subphenotypes

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2021
The Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) has caused innumerable deaths worldwide since its initial description over five decades ago. Population-based estimates of ARDS vary from 1 to 86 cases per 100,000, with the highest rates reported in ...

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.
