How Responsive Are EU Coal-Burning Plants to Changes in Energy Prices? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The European Union (EU) Emissions Trading System (ETS) has implicitly made it more expensive to burn coal relative to natural gas because coal has a higher carbon content.

Rational Fine‐Tuning of MOF Pore Metrics: Enhanced SO2 Capture and Sensing with Optimal Multi‐Site Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A pore tuning strategy to amplify the multi‐site MOF‐SO2 interactions is proposed to achieve an enhanced trace SO2 capture and chemiresistive sensing in highly stable isostructural DMOFs by annelating benzene rings. This work provides a facile strategy to achieve tailor‐made stable MOF materials for specific multifunctional applications.

Coal biodesulfurization processes [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2002
Sulfur emission from coal combustion presents many environmental problems. It is believed that the best method to limit the amount of sulfur oxides emitted into the atmosphere is to reduce the amount of sulfur in coal before combustion.

Co-combustion Coal and Waste Alternative Fuel: Thermogravimetric Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava, Mechanical Series, 2011
Combustion of coal together with a relative small percentage of waste alternative fuel (WAF) may be a choice for the management of these wastes. Co-combustion coal and their blends of 5%, 10% and 50% (wt.%) with waste alternative fuel were tested in a ...

Annals of Coal Mining and the Coal Trade [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1899
THE scientific study of any art or industry demands, almost as a matter of necessity, that its history should not be neglected, for it is only when its mode of evolution has been clearly traced that the principles upon which it depends can be thoroughly understood.
