Slag Behavior in Gasifiers. Part I: Influence of Coal Properties and Gasification Conditions
In the entrained-flow gasifiers used in integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) plants, the majority of mineral matter transforms to liquid slag on the wall of the gasifier and flows out the bottom.

Annals of Coal Mining and the Coal Trade [PDF]
THE scientific study of any art or industry demands, almost as a matter of necessity, that its history should not be neglected, for it is only when its mode of evolution has been clearly traced that the principles upon which it depends can be thoroughly understood.

Progestin drugs are loaded into a mesoporous silicon dioxide host by melt‐infiltration. Drugs that decompose at or close to their melting point can be loaded by the addition of cholesterol, which acts as a melting point suppressor. High mass loading of the drug is achieved, and dissolution of the composite is controlled by the nanoscale properties of ...

Extinction and re-initiation of methane detonation in dilute coal particle suspensions [PDF]
In this study, methane detonation propagation in dilute coal particle suspensions is studied based on Eulerian-Lagrangian method. Two-dimensional configuration is considered, and a skeletal chemical mechanism (24 species and 104 reactions) is applied for methane combustion.

How Responsive Are EU Coal-Burning Plants to Changes in Energy Prices? [PDF]
The European Union (EU) Emissions Trading System (ETS) has implicitly made it more expensive to burn coal relative to natural gas because coal has a higher carbon content.
