Control of ash yield on vertical pore structure development and its impact on coalbed methane adsorption in the deep coal seams of the Ordos Basin

open access: yesNatural Gas Industry B
The vertical heterogeneity of the pore structure in deep coal seams with varying ash yields is a key control for coalbed methane storage and producibility; however, its specific impact on gas adsorption is not clearly defined.

Enrichment of carbon recovery of high ash coal fines using air fluidized vibratory deck separator

open access: yesInternational Journal of Coal Science & Technology, 2017
Coal is primarily beneficiated by wet gravity methods. The wet processing of coal is an efficient practice. However, it introduces the moisture in the range of 6%–15%, depending upon the size of coal which is as detrimental as ash content to the heating ...

Factors affecting cleanup of exhaust gases from a pressurized, fluidized-bed coal combustor [PDF]

open access: yes
The cleanup of effluent gases from the fluidized-bed combustion of coal is examined. Testing conditions include the type and feed rate of the coal and the sulfur sorbent, the coal-sorbent ratio, the coal-combustion air ratio, the depth of the reactor ...

Monitoring mercury across the National Wildlife Refuge System using a biosentinel approach

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
We measured mercury concentrations in 1,356 dragonfly larvae collected from 30 National Wildlife Refuges across the United States and found wide variability among refuges, spanning the full range reported for other protected lands. Using a management‐focused mercury impairment index, 80% of refuges contained sites classified as moderate or higher risk.

Nutrition Status of Trees on Spoil Heaps After Coal Mining Can Be Inferred From Seasonal Dynamics of Foliar Nutrient Concentrations

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A stable vegetation cover on given habitat conditions can be one of the possible requirements for post‐mining sites, as it can prevent erosion and dustiness of these anthropogenic surfaces and bring several practical future benefits, such as biomass production and microclimate improvement.
