Investigations into the failure mechanisms of coal bursts based on a real burst event in the Tangshan coal mine

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
To investigate the failure mechanisms of coal bursts in the longwalls of underground coal mines, a case study based on the real coal burst in the Tangshan coal mine occurring on 2 August 2019 was carried out to analyze the cause and basic theories of the coal burst and, thus, propose approaches and methods to mitigate the damage.

Study on mechanical properties and damage characteristics of granite under thermal shock based on CT scanning

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu, 2023
During the exploitation of deep geothermal resources, the thermal fractures of high-temperature rocks are usually induced by the impact of low-temperature fluids to improve the permeability of reservoir rocks.

An energy-based quantitative coal burst proneness rating system for development roadways

open access: yesGeomechanics and Geophysics for Geo-Energy and Geo-Resources, 2023
Coal burst is one of the principal hazards in development panels of underground coal mines. This study develops a practical approach to quantitatively estimate coal burst proneness in development roadways.

Radiometric Constraints on the Timing, Tempo, and Effects of Large Igneous Province Emplacement

open access: yesGeophysical Monograph Series, Page 27-82., 2021

Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact

An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.

Study on the evolutionary characteristics of coal burst proneness under the action of multiple mining disturbances

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering, 2023
Coal burst is a serious hazard in deep coal mining. To investigate the coal burst proneness evolution during multiple mining disturbances (MMD), this paper implemented a range of uniaxial cyclic loading–unloading tests coupled with acoustic emission (AE)

Investigation on the pore characteristics of coal specimens with bursting proneness [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2019
AbstractTo achieve further insight into the pore characteristics, the coal specimens with different bursting proneness before and after uniaxial compression failure are tested and compared in this paper. The data of mercury intrusion test is corrected by that of low-temperature nitrogen adsorption and desorption test (LTNAD). The pore size distribution

A Method to Determine the Chain Pillar Width considering Coal Burst and Goaf Ignition Dual-Hazard Management

open access: yesLithosphere, 2023
High rock stress and ground temperature pose great threats to the routine production of longwall top coal caving (LTCC) panels. In this risky condition, the width of the chain pillar is considered a factor adjustable for controlling coal burst and goaf
